It takes 8 years for a batch of Bacardi Reserva Ocho Rye Cask to mature. Taking an extra step in finishing the rum in rye whiskey casks adds a surprising profile that makes it special for those exceptional moments.
Kentucky rye whiskey is aged for 6 to 7 years in new oak casks, which are then shipped unrinsed to Puerto Rico. The blended eight-year-old rum is filled into these barrels for finishing, with the master blender determining when it has reached the ideal balanced profile.
The master blender adores the idea of having the distinct character of the rye whiskey be in the initial aroma that will welcome & endear the rum which is unexpected and somewhat playful, nevertheless it then delivers the emblematic character associated with the 8-year-old rum.

BACARDI OCHO RYE
NOSE: Caramelized brown sugar, buttered popcorn, cocoa powder, roasted hazelnuts, malted grain, vanilla and the gentle char of faint wood smoke.
PALATE: A decadent, intense mouthfeel with notes of maple syrup, marzipan, cinnamon, dried currants and plums, the warmth of white pepper and a dry almost salty minerality.
FINISH: Sweetness and spice followed by a whiskey smokiness, ending in a long silky finish that warms rightdown into the chest.
COLOUR: Deep, golden amber.
